Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) launched the Curriculum for Life Skills (Jeevan Kaushal) designed by University Grants Commission (UGC).

Union Human Resource Development Minister launched the Annual Refresher Programme In Teaching (ARPIT) – 2019 under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) in New Delhi.

Union Human Resource Development Minister launched Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP) – 2019 under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) in New Delhi.


  • Indeed, Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP) is a three weeks leadership development training program (2 weeks domestic and one-week foreign training) for second level academic functionaries in public-funded higher education institutions.
  • Besides, The main objective is to prepare the second tier academic heads that are potentially likely to assume leadership roles in the future.
  • LEAP is being implemented through the following 15 higher education institutions (HEIs) institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Miliia Islamia, etc.
  • Furthermore, The mandatory eligibility conditions are minimum 8 years of experience as Professor;  3 years administrative experience; Impeccable Integrity; High academic standing preferably 30 publications in ‘SCOPUS’ indexed international journals or UGC approved journals; and age below 58 years. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2019, a massive countrywide awareness and mobilization campaign on Swachhata at Mathura.

  • Indeed, Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2019, a Jan Andolan for Swachhata, is proposed to be organized from 11th September to 2nd October 2019.
  • Besides, This year’s campaign focused on Plastic Waste Management, given the detrimental effect of uncollected plastic waste on human beings, animals and the environment at large.
  • From 3rd October till 27th October (Diwali), the collected plastic waste will then be effectively recycled and disposed of.
  • All Central and State Governments encouraging to ban the use of Single-Use Plastic (SUP) products during the campaign period.
